I've been SUPER busy all week. On Monday I went to the local fair. I found an autism booth, and (after buying a few items to help get ipads for kids) asked if I could join in! It was SO much fun. We met a lot of people who shared their stories with us, and educated many! The coolest part was the fact that the owner of the booth has a son on the opposite end of the spectrum from me. I love that when he and I were together, we could show just how different people with autism are from each other.
The fair itself was hard to tolerate sometimes. There was HORRIBLE technical feedback from the audio, lots of "winner" sirens going off all around us, people screaming, horsing around, and smoking. I ended up wearing my ear plugs half of the time.
In the end, though, we raised enough money for at least one ipad with an autism app, and we spread lots of awareness!
