Thanksgiving

Posted by Admin on November 22, 2012 at 4:40 PM

First off, I hope that everyone in the US has had a happy Thanksgiving.

Second, I want to say that although I'm thankful for many things (Dad cooking an AMAZING dinner, friends, family, health, etc.), I am NOT thankful for Thanksgiving itself.

There are SO MANY: Noises, people, smells, types of food, hustling, shouting, laughing, dishes clanging, stores closed, the list goes on and on. And there's NO mail.  (Any day that takes mail away from me is automatically starting off on the "downhill" end.)

But not only do these situations bother me, they last ALL DAY.  There's no way to escape from the madness.  And family would think you are being rude if you stay away.  In reality, I would LOVE to be able to join people, but I just don't enjoy the time.

So I am thankful that Thanksgiving only lasts one day...how's that?

I hear you on that. I always felt obligated to attend TG dinner with either family or friends, Recently these past couple of years, I managed a way of being able not to go through these events. If I get invited to one place I tell them I'm already invited to another. If I get another invite, I again do the same. Now I get the day to myself to get things done, or to just rest. For the dinner, I just go to a restaurant and read the paper while eating my dinner in a quiet calm atmosphere. It's heaven, let me tell you. Happy Thanksgiving.
