Sometimes, you just have to laugh at bad days. Today was the first day of school for the local district. Last night, I had 2 terrible nightmares. I could hardly think when I was at work due to the continuous flashbacks I was having. (I have flashbacks because I have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from my school experiences.) They were so awful and by the time I got back home I was a mess. I just had one after another, and I was at the point where I was just rocking myself sobbing. Finally, I called my Mom, who reminded me to take a medication (which helped!) and told me to come home when I was able to drive. I talked to my therapist, which also helped a bit. Then I went to see my Mom. Most of the flashbacks have pretty much subsided, so I was able to do some laundry and be with my Mom. I even got to visit a neighbor. I was feeling pretty well when I left, and THEN I started seeing the school buses again. One after another, I could barely stand it. I thought to myself "Just get home."
So where's the irony in my story? When I turned into the parking lot of the apartments I live in, WAITING for me there, was a school bus. RIGHT outside MY apartment. Literally, right outside MY door. After cursing every word I could think of, I just had to laugh.
And at the very moment I type this, I'm hearing it start up and leave.
